The box below gives access to a database on banknote authentication devices which have been tested by the national central banks (NCBs).The test results may help banknote users to select counterfeit detection equipment.
The listed devices do not qualify as banknote handling machines in line with Decision ECB/2010/14 on the authenticity and fitness checking and recirculation of euro banknotes. Thus, they cannot be used by credit institutions or other cash handlers for the automatic authentication of euro banknotes destined for recirculation via automated teller machines and other customer-operated cash dispensing machines.
For the test results of banknote handling machines, see the list of successfully tested types of banknote handling machine (as referred to in Article 6(1a) of Council Regulation (EC) 1338/2001, as amended by Council Regulation (EC) 44/2009).
