The ECB maintains and publishes a list of eligible marketable assets. The list, available below, is updated from Monday to Friday regardless of holidays at 6:30p.m. C.E.T. In addition to eligible marketable assets also certain non-marketable assets are eligible as collateral for ECB credit operations in line with the "General framework".
The single framework for eligible assets came into effect on 1 January 2007 and has replaced the two-tier system. For details, see the ECB Monthly Bulletin article, May 2006, 1.1 MB, en.
Only marketable assets issued by non-financial corporations without a rating from an external credit assessment institution for the issue, issuer or guarantor are not included in the list of eligible marketable assets. For these debt instruments, the eligibility status depends on the credit assessment of the credit assessment source chosen by the respective counterparty in accordance with the ECAF rules (see the "General framework").
