Discontinued statistical addenda
Comparable statistics accessible via the SDW
Full time series starting with
2000 data can be downloaded from the ECB's
Statistical Data Warehouse (SDW). Efforts to include revised earlier data
into the SDW are ongoing.
The SDW also contains preformatted tables on payments statistics which present data in the same way as in the
former Blue Book Addendum print publication. The tables are populated with the data for the most recent 5 years
and provide a convenient link to the full series available in the SDW.
The statistical addenda below are provided for information only.
Comparability of data
Reporting requirements have been revised in 2004 – 2006. Data presented in the discontinued statistical addenda were collected according to a different methodology. Therefore, data are not always comparable across countries and across time.
Difficulties in comparability across countries occur in particular for:
- Payment instruments: Credit transfers and Direct debits for 2004 and 2005 due to the inclusion/exclusion of book-entry transactions.
- Securities settlement data: All data prior to 2005. Data are collected according to a new methodology starting with 2005 data. Some countries also provided corrected data for 2004, these are included in the SDW.
- Securities clearing and trading data: All data prior to 2006. Data are collected according to a new methodology starting with 2006 data. Some countries also provided corrected data for 2005, these are included in the SDW.
