I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to oversee the last, and possibly most rewarding, phase of the construction, having taken over from my predecessors on the Executive Board, Lorenzo Bini Smaghi and Lucas Papademos. more

Double office tower half way there

Since July 2011 the structural framework of the high-rise has towered over the Grossmarkthalle. more

Inside the market hall

Since the beginning of August 2011 the Grossmarkthalle has been filled with construction equipment such as internal scaffolding and several cranes. These are being used to renovate the concrete grid facade and roof shells, as well as to construct the new building elements, which are being integrated into the hall as a separate house-in-house system. more

Onwards and upwards in spring 2012

By February 2012 the third interchange platform had been installed on the 27th floor of the high-rise. These platforms not only provide the structural links, but also facilitate access between the two office towers. more

A long road to rediscovery

The southern part of the Ostend district was always one of the less affluent parts of Frankfurt. It was also home to the city’s largestJewish community and an industrial centre. more
