Background

The data in this section are in line with the recommendations for the IMF/BIS template on international reserves and foreign currency liquidity and the ECB Guideline of 16 July 2004 on the statistical reporting requirements of the ECB (ECB/2004/15). Changes in the volume of gold holdings of the Eurosystem are due to transactions in gold within the terms of the Central Bank Gold Agreement of 26 September 1999, updated on 8 March 2004.
